“Fall” Into the Autumn De-clutter Trend

Clean outs and decluttering isn’t just for spring! Get into the declutter minimalistic trend now before decorating for one of the upcoming holidays (Halloween & Christmas). This is a great way to make your home feel lighter, cleaner and ready for more! Lol. Or ready for the next step. It’s also a great stress reliever.

People think if you’re decluttering you’re getting ready to move. And this is a GREAT idea if you’re thinking about selling, moving or downsizing. We are all collectors to some extent. When you open your cupboard and see seven kinds of crackers or glance at the tool pile and there are four hammers. There is always something that can move along.

Think about the picture you saw in a magazine or on a post of someone’s kitchen or bathroom. What’s generally all the same? There is not much on the countertops. So let’s clean some stuff off and out!

Don’t….

….. focus on the big picture. If you’re thinking about doing a clean-out, start with one room, then narrow it down even further - one drawer. But then what right?

Do…..

….. make piles, they’re like the list of decluttering. AND if it’s stressing you out, just do 10 minutes at a time!

Easy Organizing Piles:

  1. Garbage

  2. Shouldn’t live here. Move along!

  3. Sell it

  4. Donate it

  5. Undecided

Don’t stress yourself out with items you aren’t 100% sure about yet. Get a box and put those pieces in there to decide on later.

Next start a list - yes a list….. my favourite….
** Picture me tapping my fingertips together with an evil grin. **

Is there something in that space that would help you keep this area neater, more organized? Maybe a new shelf, or small containers or jars for storage. I keep all my crackers in one container - ditch the boxes - and all my nuts, seeds, grains in mason jars. It looks tidy, uncluttered and visually appealing! Check out Pinterest for ideas!
